Food, Fibre & Agritech Challenge

B.linc is delighted to announce the launch of the food, fibre and agritech supernode challenge - presented by ChristchurchNZ, KiwiNet, AgResearch and the Canterbury Mayoral fund. The supernode challenge aims to create and foster transformative innovation in FFA with the total prize pool for winners of $130,000.

We are challenging New Zealand innovators and change-makers to develop new, disruptive solutions that can be applied to the food, fibre and agritech sector to meet market demand by either:

  • Generating value-added, high-impact food, fibre and agriculture products; or

  • Assisting on-farm automation and decision making that mitigates environmental impacts; or reduces the cost of production; or captures value-added provenance and credence stories of our products

We want solutions that have the potential for commercial success on a global scale while also delivering positive environmental outcomes. They should be transformative and may combine different technologies such as AI, machine learning, future foods, big data, or biotechnology.

We're specifically looking for ideas and solutions that are not yet commercialised

3 IS A VIABLE TECHNOLOGY
Research and scientified principles should be fundamentally sound

4 IS ATTRACTIVE FOR INVESTORS
The technology should be novel and protectable i.e. patent or trade secret

Canterbury has a proud history in producing world-class food and fibre products and these sectors account for 22% of Canterbury's GDP. We must embrace the future and lead the world to become more efficient, more sustainable and continue to be competitive to meet shifting consumer preferences across the globe.

Through this Challenge we want to identify new, innovative products that will help with this transformation of the Canterbury food, fibre and agritech sector.
